Kamal Singh Bohara
Deputy Mayor and Judicial Committee Coordinator
Patan Municipality, Baitadi
Regarding the conflicts in our society over natural resources, NRCTCN has provided vital support in transforming and resolving these issues. On behalf of the Municipality, I want to express my deepest gratitude. This was an essential need for us.
In our villages and communities, many conflicts arise because of a lack of mutual understanding regarding natural resources. As elected representatives, we often come from political parties; this can sometimes lead to disputes or a feeling that our solutions aren't fully impartial—even though I have always tried my best to find resolutions.
When this organization began its work on conflict transformation and resource management in our municipality, it felt like we finally had a neutral mediator. It's approach of digging deep into the grassroots level to identify the real problems of users group—and understanding the impact of these conflicts on society—is truly remarkable.
The conflict transformation method is like a 'complete surgery'; it digs out the root causes to ensure the same problems don’t resurface. I have visited two to three sites myself, and I am very much impressed. The organization has greatly assisted the local government, particularly our Judicial Committee, in facilitation.
We don’t view this organization as just another NGO or INGO; we see it as an integral part of the local government. Recognizing this, we have even provided them with office space within the government building. While many organizations have their own interests, the work they do in conflict transformation is our work. I don't feel like NRCTC as an outside NGO. In managing their office within the Municipality, I view them as one of our own departments—a dedicated wing for conflict transformation.
