The Natural Resources Conflict Transformation Center Nepal (NRCTC-Nepal) has provided relief materials to people affected by floods and other disasters in Nuwakot and Rasuwa. The organization supplied various food items and essential daily-use materials to help meet the immediate needs of disaster-affected families.
On 28 August 2026 (Bhadra 12, 2083 BS), the relief materials were handed over at Nepal Army's Maithali Barracks in Battar, Nuwakot. The relief package provided by the organization included polar blankets, cooking oil, dishwashing soap, salt, garam masala, beaten rice (chiura), dalmoth, and other food items. It also included toothpaste, toothbrushes, bathing soap, and EPE foam.
The relief materials were received by Second Lieutenant Dajil Jung Shahi of the Training Centre. The materials were handed over by Adv. Chup Bahadur Thapa, Executive Director of the Natural Resources Conflict Transformation Center Nepal.
Executive Director Thapa said that standing with disaster-affected citizens during times of crisis is a shared responsibility. He noted that natural disasters such as floods and landslides can severely affect families, food security, and daily life, making immediate relief and assistance essential.
“Supporting people affected by disasters is a humanitarian responsibility,” said Thapa.
He further emphasized the need for coordination among government agencies, security forces, social organizations, and civil society to reduce the suffering of affected people during disasters.
According to Thapa, the relief materials will provide some immediate support to affected families. He also stressed that, alongside emergency relief, attention should be given to rehabilitation, reconstruction, and long-term support to help affected communities return to normal life after a disaster.
Various areas of Nuwakot and Rasuwa have frequently been affected by floods and landslides. During the monsoon season, rising water levels in rivers and streams put communities living along riverbanks at risk. Damage to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure also creates significant challenges in delivering relief and essential supplies to affected areas.
In such circumstances, coordination among local governments, security agencies, social organizations, and citizens is crucial. Stakeholders have emphasized that identifying the immediate needs of affected people and ensuring that relief reaches targeted families can help reduce the impact of disasters to some extent.
The relief materials were handed over with the objective of providing necessary assistance to affected communities while prioritizing humanitarian support during the disaster.
During the relief handover program, discussions were also held on ensuring that the assistance reaches affected people effectively. Participants emphasized the need to assess the situation of flood-affected families and provide further support and cooperation based on their needs in the coming days.
Such assistance during times of disaster is expected not only to provide immediate relief to affected families but also to reassure them that they are not alone. Humanitarian support and collective efforts are expected to provide affected communities with encouragement and strength to recover and gradually return to normal life.
