National Federation of Irrigation Water Users’ Association Nepal (NFIWUAN)

NFIWUAN is established in 2055 (1998) as non-profit organization. It is registered under social act 2034 and was affiliated with Nepal Social Welfare Council in 2056/1999. It is federated organization of district level Irrigation Water Users Organizations which is devoted to promote sustainable irrigation service to farmers of irrigation command area. Its organization is extended over entire country covering 74 districts and enrolling more than 2900 irrigation schemes in its 74 Districts Federations of Irrigation Water Users Association (NFIWUAN). The main purpose of its establishment is to assist Government in undertaking irrigation management tasks, strengthening and rehabilitating smaller irrigation schemes (less than 25 hector in hills and less than 200 hector in Terai), empowering Water Users Association with irrigation management capacity, establishing water rights of users, conflict resolution and peace establishment in irrigation community, promote social inclusive, good governance, women leadership development in irrigated community and improving land use with appropriate irrigated agricultural practices.
